Angels V HB

Good to see Alex playing again, though sadly for us, he will not be around for long. We wish him well wherever he is. Needing the 3-1 to win, the Angels played well in parts, just not in my game. Ian outplayed me for most of the game, but a desperate rearguard action, with my king stuck in the middle of the board prevented any material damage. Just as the game levelled out into a Q, R & B + pawns ending, Ian made a mistake and lost a bishop to a Q fork.

Match felt closer than the scoreline suggests, with the last match to finish Damian & Peter, a desperate Qs & 4/5 pawns each. David had a spectacular finish against Ian, my game was less dramatic, a difficult grind after going the exchange up, and I’m not sure about Steve & Christine.
